Material type: The coating on the paper surface. Gloss gives the strongest colour and shine, Silk a smooth low-sheen finish, and Uncoated a natural feel that can be written on.
Paper thickness: Measured in gsm (grams per square metre). Higher gsm is thicker and stiffer — lighter stocks suit handouts, heavier ones suit cards that need to feel substantial.
